Oldham Scores 19 in SWOSU Win

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Southwestern Oklahoma State University got solid play down the stretch and withstood a determined effort by Lincoln University to come away with a 60-54 win in the first women’s basketball game this season.

Senior center Andrea Oldham scored 19 points and pulled the Bulldogs ahead to stay at 46-45 with a short basket with 7:11 to play. Oldham, who made nine-of-11 shots from the field, also led the team in rebounds with eight. She scored again to put SWOSU ahead 48-45 with 6:39.

Lincoln, who was 1-23 a year ago, was led by Brezette Wade with 23 points. The Blue Tigers led through much of the game and were within one point as late as five minutes to play.

SWOSU answered with a basket from guard Grace Anne Jones, and Jessica Bailey knocked down a three-pointer to put the Bulldogs comfortably ahead at 56-47 with 2:35 to play.

SWOSU ended the game shooting 48% from the field connecting on 23-of-48 shots. Lincoln misfired throughout making just 33% on 61 attempts.

The Bulldogs will next play nationally-ranked Emporia State and Washburn University in back-to-back games Friday and Saturday in Emporia, Kan.
