Women End Season With Loss

February 24, 2007

COMMERCE, TEXAS – Southwestern Oklahoma State University ended its women’s basketball season Saturday on the road with an 82-41 lopsided loss to Texas A&M University Commerce.

The women finish the year with a 9-17 overall record and ended sixth in the Lone Star Conference North division with a 3-9 mark. TAMC takes over the North title after finishing second to the Bulldogs a year ago. The Lions ended the regular season with a 22-8 mark and 10-2 in division play.

TAMC All-American candidate Kenani Marshall was simply unstoppable as she scored 36 points and poured in a Lone Star Conference record 11 three-pointers in the game against the Bulldogs. Marshall had 21 of her 36 points in the first half as the Lions owned a 44-16 lead at the break.

SWOSU sputtered out of the gate and found themselves down 22-2 after 10 minutes of play. The Lion’s lead grew to 31-6 before SWOSU scored consecutive baskets.

Commerce had a second half lead by as many as 48 points before finishing with the final margin of 41 points.

Senior Andrea Oldham, playing in her final game for SWOSU, led the team in scoring with eight points. The Bulldogs managed to make just 30% of their shots (16-of-53) and turned the ball over 29 times.
