Women Take Easy Wins

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University made it look simple easily dispatching Texas-Permian Basin and then Paul Quinn College to win both women’s basketball games at the SWOSU Thanksgiving Classic.
The Bulldogs beat UT-Permian Basin 80-35 on Friday and then completed the sweep with a 76-36 victory over Paul Quinn on Saturday. The victories improved SWOSU to 3-1 and put them riding a wave of momentum before beginning Lone Star Conference play Thursday at Midwestern State.
Sheri Yost had 15 points and Lucy Ramon added 13 for the Bulldogs in the victory over Paul Quinn.
SWOSU led 36-15 at the break and were never seriously challenged by the Fighting Tigers. The Bulldogs biggest lead of 40 was the final score. SWOSU made 44% of its shots on 27-of-61 shooting while the PQC made just 27% on 16-of-59 shooting. The Bulldogs outrebounded PQC by a 53-31 margin.
Against UT-PB, Ramon was the high-point scorer for SWOSU with 15 points while Kadee Carter was next with 10. SWOSU coach Shelly Pond emptied the bench playing all 12 players and all 12 scored.
The Bulldogs led 38-20 at half. SWOSU then outscored the Falcons 23-4 to begin the second half and were head 61-24 with 10:38 to play.
