Women Fall to MSU

November 29, 2007

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s first venture into Lone Star Conference women’s basketball play did not prove as successful as it hoped losing 76-61 at Midwestern State University.

The loss ended SWOSU’s two-game win streak and left its overall record at 3-2 on the year. MSU improved to 1-3 with the victory. The Bulldogs will next play Saturday at Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas.

Grace Anne Fath had 17 points and Lucy Ramon added 12 for the Bulldogs and kept the game within reach until late.

SWOSU went on a 9-0 run early in the second half and cut MSU’s lead to 42-38 when Jenna Sprague scored at the 14:14 mark. The Mustangs answered with a 10-run of their own and pushed the margin back to 14 at 52-38 with 12:22 to play.

The Bulldogs never could get back within 10 points as MSU continued its hot-shooting from the field for the game’s remainder.

MSU ended the game making 51% of its shots on 24-of-47 shooting while SWOSU made 43% on 21-of-49 attempts.
