Women Play Final Tune-up

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University  tested itself one final time before the start of its 2008-09 women’s basketball season becomes official with an exhibition game against a collection of former college all stars from the state of Oklahoma on Monday.

SWOSU gave the visiting all-star team called the Oklahoma Flyers a strong and solid game before falling by a final score of 77-69. The Bulldogs will begin their season Friday at home as part of the SWOSU Athletic Association Classic. SWOSU’s first round opponent is Paul Quinn University at 6 p.m. followed by Pittsburg State at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Lucy Ramon had 18 points and Tobey Beer added 15 for the Bulldogs who led the Flyers until midway through the second half. Kadee Carter was the only other double figure scorer for SWOSU finishing with 11 points.
Former Oklahoma City University NAIA All-American Kesha Watson had 28 points for the Flyers to lead all scorers.

The Bulldogs had the game tied as late as 59-59 on a pair of free throws by Ramon with 5:22 to play. However, the Flyers answered with a flurry and had the margin back at 10 before settling for the eight-point win at the end.
