Women Stumble Against UCO

The defeat dropped SWOSU to 4-11 overall and 0-2 in the Lone Star Conference North Division. The Bulldogs will next play at home Wednesday against Cameron University. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
Jennifer DeGarmo had 16 points and Tobey Beer added 13 to lead the Bulldogs in scoring. The two played a key role in a first half where the Bulldogs battled the Bronchos to a 25-25 draw. DeGarmo and Beer scored 20 of the Bulldogs 25 first-half points.
The Bulldogs had it tied for the last time at 32-32 when Jenna Sprague scored with 15:15 to play. UCO then went on a tear, outscoring SWOSU by a 16-2 margin and had its lead at 48-34 when Traci Murphree canned a three pointer with 10:02 to play.
Christina Yarbrough had 16 points and Lizzie Brenner added 13 for the Bronchos who upped their mark to 12-3 overall and 2-0 in division play.
SWOSU cut UCO's lead to single digits when DeGarmo made a nice move to score bringing the Bulldogs to within 51-42 with 3:16 to play. UCO again answered by going on a 13-2 run in the last minutes to win by a deceptive 20-point margin.
SWOSU did not shoot well in the game making just 18-of-55 attempts and finished with a 33% accuracy mark. The Bulldogs where five-of-16 from three-point distance for 31%. UCO was more accurate making 44% of its shots connecting on 20-of-45 attempts, including eight-of-19 from three-point range for 42%. The Bronchos visited the free throw line 13 more times than SWOSU and made 13 more.
