Ingram Takes Fourth, Women Ninth at LSC Meet

Weatherford, OK – Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Rachel Ingram missed her chance for the individual conference title but the cross country star still posted an impressive fourth-place finish at the Lone Star Conference meet.Ingram, a Springfield, Mo. sophomore finished the six-kilometer race with a time of 22:40.9 -- 69 seconds behind Abilene Christian’s Trina Cox and her winning time of 21:31.8. Cox’s teammates Olha Kryv’yak and Adeh Mwamba finished second and third to lift ACU to its fifth straight league title with 43 team points.
Ingram’s fourth-place finish earned her all-conference honors for the second consecutive year. She finished sixth in last year’s meet in Durant as a freshman.
A total of 86 runners from 12 schools competed in the event Saturday at Weatherford’s Prairie West Golf Course.
West Texas A&M was second with 66 points and Angelo State was third with 88 points. SWOSU, under the leadership of coach Melanie Miller, finished in ninth place as a team with 219 points, ahead of Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Southeastern Okla.
Other SWOSU finishers were Kate Hollenshead in 44th at 26:23; Heather Wallace in 46th at 26:26, Jamie Belusko in 64th at 27:55, Whitney Watson in 66th with 28:13 and Carina Gamino in 86th at 33:18.
