Ingram Earns League's Top Academic Honor

December 13, 2005

Richardson, TX - Southwestern Oklahoma State cross country star Rachel Ingram was voted as the top academic women’s cross country runner in the Lone Star Conference, according to a release by the league’s office.

Ingram (So., Springfield, Mo.) was selected to the prestigious honor after a league-wide vote of sports information directors. To be considered for the award, student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or better, have earned a varsity letter and be in good academic standing at their nominating university.

Ingram currently carries a 4.00 GPA while pursuing course work in pre-pharmacy at SWOSU. She became the first SWOSU cross country runner to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships earlier last month where she finished 47th out of a field of 185 runners.

Ingram, who is coached by Melanie Miller, was fourth in both the South Central Region Meet and the LSC meet this year. She has made the all-conference team as a freshman and sophomore. She won individual titles at the Oklahoma State Jamboree and later at the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational.
