Ingram Wins First LSC Award

September 13, 2006

RICHARDSON, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State cross country star Rachel Ingram won her first of what is likely to be many awards this season when she was selected as the first Lone Star Conference women’s cross country runner-of-the-week.

Ingram, a junior from Springfield, Mo., was the runaway winner at the East Central University Tiger Chase last week racing past a field of 52 participants to claim the individual title in record time. She blistered the five-kilometer course at the Pontotoc Technology Center in 18 minutes and 45 seconds and finished 38 seconds ahead of her nearest pursuer.

She has been beaten only by two runners this year, both international runners from Kenya who compete for Texas Tech and South Plains Junior College.

Ingram’s next meet will be near her hometown when she and the rest of her Bulldog teammates compete at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Mo. on Saturday.
