Ingram Wins LSC Top Academic Honor

November 9, 2006

RICHARDSON, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State’s Rachel Ingram was recognized by the Lone Star Conference as the top academic runner by a vote of the league’s sports information directors.

Ingram, a junior from Springfield, Mo., has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and is currently taking course work in the school’s prestigious school of pharmacy. Earlier this month, she qualified for a return trip to the NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championships with a second-place finish in the South Central Regional.

Ingram has won meets at East Central and Oklahoma State University this year and has maintained her status as one of the top runners in the area. She finished second in the LSC meet and has been a three-time, all-conference runner.

She was joined on the all-academic team by fellow teammate Stefanie Jones who has a 3.82 GPA in pre-pharmacy. Jones, a junior from Fort Smith, Ark, finished in the top 10 in four races and was selected to the all-conference team after her ninth place finish at the LS Meet.

A total of five runners were voted to the all-academic team from the 12 LSC schools who sponsor cross country.
