SWOSU Finishes 10th at OSU

STILLWATER, Okla. -- Southwestern Oklahoma State University had two of its cross country runners finish in the top 10 and managed to place 10th overall at the Oklahoma State University Jamboree. A total of 21 teams and 207 runners competed in the college division portion of the five-kilometer race. Last season, SWOSU finished 13th out of 21.
Stefanie Jones was SWOSU’s top runner by placing sixth with a time of 19:10. She finished just ahead of her eighth-place teammate and two-time defending champion Rachel Ingram who was clocked at 19:20.
Irene Kosgie of Cowley County Community College won the event with a time of 18:41.
Butler Community College was the top team with 111 points as all five runners finished 38th or better. Dallas Baptist was second with 124 points and Lone Star Conference school Central Oklahoma was third with 129 points.
Other LSC schools that competed were Tarleton State in fourth place with 138 points, West Texas A&M in seventh place with 193 points, Angelo State was 17th with 484 points and Midwestern State was 20th with 522 points.
Other SWOSU runners and their finish are as follows: Grace Anne Fath in 26th with a time of 19:50, Kate Hollenshead in 107th with a time of 21:44, Afton Hoover in 108th with a time of 21:44, Emily Haskins in 115th with a time of 22:02; Erin Williams in 157th with a time of 23:21 and Kara Bachus in 170th with a time of 23:48.
SWOSU will take a week off before returning to racing on Oct. 13 at the University of Arkansas Chili Pepper Run in Fayetteville, Ark.
