Cross Country Runs at OSU

STILLWATER, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University tested itself against some of the top cross country teams in the nation running in the annual Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater on Saturday. SWOSU finished 23rd at the event and ahead of fellow Lone Star Conference School East Central which placed 24th.

Northern Arizona was the overall event winner with two runners finishing in the top seven. UNA had 61 points while the host, Oklahoma State, finished second with 118 points.

Abilene Christian, the only other LSC school running in the university division along with SWOSU and ECU, placed 20th. A total of 25 teams competed in the top-level division.

Kansas State’s Beverly Ramos was the top finisher running the 6,000 meter course in a time of 20:30. A total of 163 runners competed in the event.

SWOSU’s Stefanie Jones was the top finisher for the Bulldogs placing 60th with a time of 22:56. Other SWOSU runners and their finish are as follows: Patty Murphy was 140th with a time of 25:19, Emily Haskins was 142nd with a time of 25:25, Melissa Banks was 148th with a time of 25:55 and Kate Hollenshead was 153rd with at time of 26:16.

SWOSU will next run in two weeks at the University of Arkansas before the Lone Star Conference meet later this month in Kingsville, Texas.
