Todd Helton - Defensive Coordinator


Todd Helton has been the constant link between the Bulldogs past and present, spending his last 18 seasons on the SWOSU football coaching staff. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience and has put together some of the league’s top-rated defensive units for nearly 20 years.
SWOSU finished among the top five in the LSC last year in pass defense, rush defense, total defense and turnover margin. He has guided some of the school’s top defensive lineman, including NAIA All-Americans John Wichert and Robert Newberg and current all-star Joe Castle.
A native of Perryton, Texas, Helton was an NAIA All-American for the Bulldogs in the late 1980’s. His 197 career tackles and 15 sacks rank him among the school’s all time leaders for defensive lineman.|
Helton earned his bachelor’s and his master’s degree from SWOSU in 1993. He and his wife Stephanie, have two young daughters, Kennedie and Ireland.
