SWOSU's Bortz Lands Job with 49ers

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State football manager John Bortz has been awarded a two-month internship with the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League. Bortz, a senior from Midwest City, learned of his appointment last month from 49er officials.Bortz will assist a six-person equipment staff led by director Steve Urbaniak when the club begins its training camp in Santa Clara, California in mid-July. Some of Bortz’s responsibilities will include pre and post practice equipment setup. In addition, he will serve as a staff assistant with the 49ers during their four pre-season football games.
Bortz plans to continue on in his role at SWOSU as the team’s equipment manager following his stint with the 49ers. He will begin his sixth year this season.
He is the son of Don and Linda Bortz of Midwest City.
