SWOSU Puts on Pads for Spirited Workout

Weatherford, Oklahoma - Southwestern Oklahoma State University concluded its first full-pad football practice Monday with new coach Ryan Held putting the Bulldogs through a spirited two and one-half hour morning workout.The Bulldogs focus was on individual blocking. The team went through the "Oklahoma Drill" which features one defensive player trying to shed a blocker and tackle the on-coming ball carrier racing towards him.
The practice concluded with a seven-on-seven passing scrimmage that showcased the Bulldogs new-look, wide-open passing attack.
SWOSU will continue practicing twice daily until school begins on Wednesday, Aug. 24. The Bulldogs open the season at home Thursday, Aug. 25 against Oklahoma Panhandle State.
Fans wanting to take a sneak preview at the Bulldogs and their newly-outfitted 2005 uniforms will have an opportunity during the annual SWOSU Football Photo/Media day. The festivities are scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 1:30 p.m. at Milam Field. Players will be dressed in gameday uniforms and be available for pictures and interviews with fans and media.
