Bryant, Voight Earn Football Academic Honor

Richardson, TX - Southwestern Oklahoma State landed two football players on the Lone Star Conference’s North Division All-Academic team, according to an announcement by the league office.

Tyson Bryant (So., FB, Cordell) and Rusty Voight (Jr., K, Weatherford) were two of 11 players chosen to the team that recognizes student-athletes for both academic and playing excellence.

Bryant carries a 3.82 GPA while majoring in health science. He finished 2005 as the team’s sixth leading receiver catching 10 passes for 91 yards.

Voight carries a 3.70 GPA while majoring in biology. He finished as the team’s leading scorer with 34 points. He kicked eight-of-12 field goals and was successful on 10-of-12 extra point attempts.

The team is voted on by the league’s sports information directors from those student-athletes who meet the outlined requirements. To be eligible, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.20 or better, earn a varsity letter and be in good academic standing at their nominating institution.

SWOSU’s Cory Campbell (Sr., WR, Corona, Calif.) and Brian Hill (Sr., DL, San Antonio, Texas) were among those listed on the honorable mention all-academic list.
