Weatherford - Southwestern Oklahoma State University has announced that Judd Remmers has been elevated to one of the three full-time assistant football coach positions at the school. Remmers had been with coach Ryan Held’s football staff for one year serving as a graduate assistant.

Remmers, 30, replaces Rocky Powell who resigned earlier this year to take the head coaching job at Cordell High School. Remmers will assume the coaching responsibilities of the linebackers and remain as the team’s primary recruiting coordinator.

Prior to coming to SWOSU, Remmers spent three years as an assistant under Held  at Oklahoma Panhandle State University where he helped lead the Aggies to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in a decade. He coached six all-conference defensive players in the Independent Football Alliance during that time.

A native of Auburn, Neb., Remmers earned his bachelor’s degree from Peru State in 2001 where he was a student assistant for two seasons. He was on the Peru coaching staff when Held was named the Bobcats head coach as a 25-year-old in 2001.
