Morgan Repeats LSC Honor
September 4, 2007
The Lone Star Conference has recognized Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s flashy newcomer Andre Morgan as the North Division Defensive Player-of-the-Week. The award is the second time in as many weeks for the senior free safety.
Morgan has made an instant impact on the Bulldogs football fortunes since transferring from Troy State University. His 12 tackles against Texas A&M-Kingsville led the defensive effort in the Bulldogs’ 7-3 victory Saturday. He finished with one sack, one pass broken up and had four tackles behind the line of scrimmage as SWOSU limited the Javelinas to just 194 yards of total offense.
Morgan, a native of Garland, Texas, leads the team with 19 tackles through the first two games. He was named LSC North Player-of-the-Week after the Bulldogs’ season-opening 33-7 win against Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
SWOSU’s defense leads the 13-team LSC in fewest total yards allowed (170.5 per game), and points (5.0 per game.) The Bulldogs are ranked second in rushing defense and passing defense.
SWOSU’s next game will be at No. 18 Midwestern State University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Wichita Falls, Texas.
