Bulldogs Beaten by SOSU
October 13, 2007

Southeastern, winners of six straight in the longtime series, did it how they have done it in the past using the wing of a strong-armed quarterback. Like his predecessors -- Drew Beard and Justin Pitrucha – Kolby Williams picked up where the others left off completing 22-of-32 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns.
SWOSU, now 3-4 and losers of three straight, had a difficult night moving the ball until late in the game when the winner had been decided. The Bulldog quarterback tandem of Steve Day and Jimmy Sangster completed just 11-of-25 passes for 144 yards and were intercepted one time.
Williams gave the Savage Storm perhaps the game’s biggest points on the final play of the second half. Williams threw to an open Brandon Covington on a quick four-yard pass play as the gun sounded to give Southeastern a 20-10 lead.
Southeastern’s margin grew to 34-10 on two third-quarter TD passes from Williams. It ballooned to 40-10 when SOSU backup quarterback Brandon Noohi scored on a two-yard run early in the fourth quarter.

On SWOSU’s next possession, Day moved the Bulldogs 70 yards on six plays the last 26 of which came on a spectacular catch-and-run by Saidrick Jackson to make the game its final, 40-24 with 1:02 to play.
Defensively, SWOSU was led by Ruzell McCoy who had eight tackles while Jonathan Dobrinski and Greg Franklin were next with seven apiece.
SWOSU will next play on the road against Northeastern State University and Central Oklahoma before returning home to face East Central for Homecoming on Nov. 3.
