Baker Wins LSC Award

November 12, 2007

RICHARDSON, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University defensive back Desmond Baker was awarded the Lone Star Conference North Division Defensive Player-of-the-Week for his efforts in leading the Bulldogs to a 21-14 victory over Texas A&M-Commerce.

Baker, a junior from Garland, Texas, had a team high 11 tackles, including three for losses totaling 18 yards in the game. He also had one quarterback sack and broke up a pass in the endzone that would have resulted in a touchdown for TAMC.

Baker and his Bulldog teammates held the Lions to 273 yards of total offense and limited the Lions to zero points in the second half. TAMUC ran only four plays on the Southwestern side of the field in the final 30 minutes.

SWOSU finished the regular season with a 6-5 mark and 3-2 in the LSC North. The Bulldogs finished in a five-way tie for first place in the North with Texas A&M-Commerce, Southeastern Oklahoma State, Northeastern State and Central Oklahoma.
