Postin Twice Makes Grade

November 27, 2007

Southwestern Oklahoma State football player Josh Postin was recognized with selection to two different academic teams in balloting done earlier this month.

Postin, a senior fullback from Andover, Kansas, was a first-team, academic all-district selection for ESPN The Magazine and was one of two SWOSU players chosen to the Lone Star Conference North Division All-Academic team. Postin carries a 3.45 grade point average and is majoring in allied health.

This season with the Bulldogs he was primarily used as a blocking back and in short-yardage situations. He ended the year with 48 yards on 17 carries and scored two touchdowns for the 6-5 Bulldogs.

Voting for both teams was done by the region’s sports information directors.

SWOSU quarterback Steve Day was also a member of the 11-person LSC academic team. Day, a sophomore from Edmond Santa Fe, has a 3.40 GPA while majoring in kinesiology. He started seven games for the Bulldogs and ended the year throwing for 1,410 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Other SWOSU players who qualified for academic consideration but were not selected were Steve Ihekona and offensive lineman Jacob Ciesynski. Both Ihekona and Ciesynski are members of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
