Bulldogs Drop to 9th at Tourney

DUNCAN – Southwestern Oklahoma State let loose of its grip on second place and tumbled to ninth in the final day of play at the Territory Golf Classic. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was completed Tuesday at the Territory Golf and Country Club in Duncan, Okla.
The Bulldogs slipped seven spots after Tuesday’s round of 312 dropped them off the pace and into ninth. SWOSU shot a 296 on Monday and trailed the host, Cameron University, by just five strokes entering the final round of play. A total of 13 teams and 70 golfers competed in the event.
Cameron went on to win the team competition posting rounds of 291 and 278 to finish seven-under-par, 569. The Aggies were 13 strokes better than second-place St. Edwards which shot a six-over, 582.
Nick Cristea of St. Edward’s won the individual title with a five-under score of 139 after rounds of 70 and 69.
The top SWOSU finisher was 17th place effort by Pat McCarthy who posted a 149, +5 over par. He shot rounds of 73 and 76.
Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Luke Phillips in 31st with a 73, 78 for 151, +7 over par; Brad Dickson in 39th with a 75 and 78 for a +9 over par, 153; Scott Kulcyzcki in 47th with a 75 and 80 for a +11 over, 155; and Jace Weaver in 61st with back-to-back 80’s for a +16, 160.
SWOSU will next play Oct. 15 at the St. Mary’s Rattler Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
