September 25, 2007

SAPULPA, Okla. -- Southwestern Oklahoma State University continued its climb up the collegiate golf ranks finishing in fourth place at the Northeastern State University Golf Classic. The two-day tournament was completed without Tuesday’s final round because of heavy rains in the area.

Scott Kulczycki and Pat McCarthy each took home top 10 finishes thanks to good outings at the Clary Fields Golf Club in Sapulpa. Kulczycki placed sixth with a pair of even-par rounds of 71 while McCarthy was eighth with a one-over par, 143.

Washburn won the team title with a six-under score of 562, 11 shots better than second-place Southeastern Oklahoma State. Washburn had the first and third-place finishers in the tournament. Matt Salome was the medalist with a nine-under 133 while his teammate Matt Lazzo was third at three-under, 139.

Northeastern State, the host school, was third with a 577 score followed by SWOSU in fourth with a 571.
