Golfers Win Newman Tourney

WICHITA, Kan. – The Southwestern Oklahoma State University men’s golf team won their first tournament of the season taking the Newman Invitational by five strokes over second-place Missouri Western. The tournament, played at Willowbend Golf Club, was shortened to one day after rain and cold forced the first round to be Canceled.
Tyler Porter and Luke Phillips led SWOSU shared low scoring honors for SWOSU as both posted a pair of 72’s. Pat McCarthy and Scott Kulczycki each shot 74’s and Ben Claussen shot a 76.
SWOSU’s Jace Weaver, playing as an individual only, shot a 78.
Missouri Western’s Aaron Lisenbee won medalist honors with a 71.
SWOSU will next play Monday, March 24 at the UCO Kickingbird Classic in Edmond.
