Golf Moves into Second at UNA

MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University soared past three other golf teams to finish in second place at the University of North Alabama Spring Classic. The Bulldogs shot a final round 298 and moved past Delta State, Arkansas Tech and Henderson State to finish second with a team score of 609.
North Alabama, the event’s host, won the tournament by 25 strokes with a 584.
SWOSU had three golfers finish 13th or better led by Scott Kulczycki who placed ninth with an six-over par 150. Kulczycki shot rounds of 78 and an even-par 72 on the final day. Kulczycki’s 72 score was bettered by just one other golfer.
A total of 14 teams and 76 golfers competed in the 36-hole tournament at the 7,193 yard, par-72 Fighting Joe Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. SWOSU was the only Lone Star Conference team in the event.
North Alabama’s Brett Munson was the medalist and the only golfer to shoot under par. He turned in a two-round score of two-under, 144, to win by two strokes over teammate Daniel Creel.
Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Luke Phillips in 11th with an eight-over, 152; Pat McCarthy in 13th with a nine-over, 153;Ben Claussen in 23rd with a 12-over, 156; and Tyler Porter in 46th with a 19-over, 163.
SWOSU will next play April 21-22 at the LSC Championships in Thackerville, Okla.
