Men 6th after Round 1

ABILENE, Texas -- The Southwestern Oklahoma State University men’s golf teams stands in sixth place after the first round of the Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate at the Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene, Texas. St. Edward's University had three players fire rounds in the 60s Monday as the third-ranked Hilltoppers grabbed the lead after the first round.
SWOSU was led by Scott Kulczycki who shot a one-over par 72 and is tied for 13th. The Bulldogs shot 301 as a team and are 25 shots off the pace set by St. Edwards.
St. Edwards’ Matt Smith and Collin Mayer each fired opening-round 68s and are tied with Abilene Christian's Patrick Hanauer for the individual lead after the first round.
ACU, which shot a 284, is eight shots back and in second place..
Cameron University is in third at 286, followed by Texas Wesleyan at 292 and Dallas Baptist (295) rounding out the top five in the team standings.
The 15 teams in the tournament will begin play in the final round Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
