Men Climb to 8th Place

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University climbed past four teams in the second round of the St. Mary’s Invitational Men’s Golf Tournament Monday with a score of 296. The Bulldogs had a 36-hole total of 600 and stand alone in eighth place of the 14-team tournament.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament concludes Tuesday at The Dominion Country Club in San Antonio.
SWOSU’s Ben Claussen shot a three-under 69 on the second round, a mark that was bettered by just one of the 74 golfers. Claussen, a junior from Trophy Club, Texas, is in ninth place overall with a 36-hole score of 145, one-over par.
The University of Texas is in first place with a 582, three shots ahead of annual power Texas Wesleyan at 585. SWOSU is just 18 shots back, and only seven shots away from fifth place.
Individually, Nick May of Kansas Newman has a one-shot lead with a three-under score of 142.
