Golf Shares Fourth Place

DUNCAN, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University put together another solid effort and finished in a fourth-place tie at the Territory Men’s Golf Classic. The two day, 36-hole tournament concluded Tuesday at the par 72, 7,077 yard course in Duncan.

SWOSU shot a final round 299 after opening with a 293. The Bulldogs began the day in a second-place tie one stroke behind Central Oklahoma. SWOSU’s 592 team score was tied by Abilene Christian as the Wildcats moved from sixth place with a final round 292.

UCO had two of the top four golfers and posted a 285 on the final day to win the tournament by a comfortable margin of seven strokes. UCO had a team score of 577 while second-pace St. Edward’s was next with a 584. Arkansas Tech was third with a 586 score.

A total of 14 teams and 75 golfers competed in the event.

The Bulldogs had three golfers – Tyler Porter, Luke Phillips and Ben Claussen – finish with identical scores of three-over par, 147. The trio was among a group who tied for 14th in the individual race.

East Central University’s Zac Pool won in a playoff against UCO’s Austin Bowman. Both ended the tournament at 140, four-under par.

Other SWOSU scores are as follows Keith Erickson finished 43rd with a nine-over par score of 153 and Scott Kulczycki was 58th with a 14-over par score of 158.
