Men Finish 14th at UCO

EDMOND, Okla. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University climbed one spot in the leader board after a final round 298 put them in 14th place at the Central Oklahoma Classic. The two-day, 54-hole tournament concluded Tuesday at Kickingbird Golf and Country Club in Edmond.
The 298 shot by SWOSU was the 11th best team score on the day and left the Bulldogs with a 54-hole total of 923. SWOSU finished one stroke ahead of Lone Star Conference rival Cameron who placed 15th with a 924.
Central Oklahoma, the tournament's hosts, was the wire-to-wire winners after shooting a five-under 275 on Tuesday. The Bronchos ended up with an 862, nine strokes better than second-place Northeastern State's total of 871.
UCO's Colby Shrum was the individual medalist with a five-under 205, thanks primarily to a four-under 66 on Tuesday. Shrum was six shots better than Sam Powell of Northeastern, who also shot 66, but finished with a 211.
SWOSU's top golfer was Dakota Brown who finished in a tie for 36th. Brown shot 77-73-77 to finish at 227, 17-over par. Other SWOSU golfers and their scores are as follows: Luke Phillips was 43rd with a 76-79-74 to finish at 229, 19-over par; Scott Kulczycki was 55th with a 78-81-74 for a 233, 23-over par; Ben Claussen was 79th with a 83-78-77 for a 238, 28 over par; Brad Leeper was 91st with a 83-89-73 for a 245; 35 over par.
A total of 18 teams and 96 golfers competed in the event.
SWOSU will next play at the Lone Star Conference Championship beginning Monday, April 20 at the Winstar Golf and Country Club in Thackerville, Okla.
