Women Finish 15th at Tourney

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University paired rounds of 372 and 367 to finish in 15th place with a team score of 739 at the St. Mary’s University/Lady Rattler Women’s Golf Tournament. The two-day, 36-hole tournament concluded Tuesday at the Pecan Valley Golf and Country Club in San Antonio, Texas.

St. Edward’s won the team title with rounds of 315 and 321 to finish at 636, four shots better than Northeastern State University who turned in a two-day total of 640. A total of 18 teams competed in the event that featured 90 golfers.

Jaryn Rainey was posted the low score on the SWOSU team with rounds of 86 and 88 to finish 174, 30 over par. Rainey finished in a tie for 49th in the tournament.

St. Edward’s Emily Kvinta won medalist honors with scores of 72 and 78 for a six-over par score of 150. Marcie Hopson of Grand Ganyon State was next with a 151 total.

Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Tasha Marshall and Jennifer Aviles each shared 67th place with other golfers. Marshall had scores of 95 and 91 for a 186 (+42), Aviles shot 94 and 92 for the same 186 score. Lauren Degan was 76th after putting together rounds of 98 and 96 for a 194 (+50). Chelsea Dupus was 78th after rounds of 97 and 100 for a total of 197 (+52).

The women will next compete in the St. Edward’s Tournament beginning March 5 in Austin, Texas.
