Rainey Places 3rd at Tourney

AUSTIN, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s Jaryn Rainey continued her string of posting the best scores for the Bulldog women’s golf team.  Rainey finished third in a field of more than 100 golfers at the St. Edward’s Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was completed Tuesday at Circle C Golf Club in Austin, Texas.

Rainey put together rounds of 80 and 77 to finish at 157, +13 over par. Rainey has now scored the lowest of all SWOSU golfers in each of the five tournaments this year. Tonya Choate of Drury was the individual winner with a score of 151, +7 over par.

SWOSU as a team finished in 19th place with scores of 381 and 361 for a team total of 742. St. Edward’s won the tournament with a combined score of 644, eight strokes better than second-place Tarleton State. A total of 20 teams participated in the field.

Other SWOSU scores are as follows Jennifer Aviles was 72nd with scores of 95 and 87 for a 182, +38 over par; Tasha Marshall was 87th with scores of 100 and 92 for 192, +48;  Lauren Degan was 96th with scores of 114 and 105, for a 219, +75; and Whitney Sawatzky with scores of 106 and 116 for a 222, +78 over par

The women will next play on March 19 at the Texas A&M-Commerce Invitational in Pottsboro, Texas.
