Women Finish 7th at WTAMU

CANYON, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University had its final women’s golf test before the Lone Star Conference Tournament playing and finishing in seventh place at the West Texas A&M Invitational. SWOSU turned in rounds of 349 and 355 and ended with a 36-hole score of 704. The two-day tournament completed Tuesday at Amarillo’s La Paloma Country Club.
SWOSU will next begin play Monday, April 16 at the Lone Star Conference Championships at Bear Creek Golf and Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
Central Oklahoma won the WTAM event with a team score of 636. The Bronchos finished nine strokes ahead of second-place Western New Mexico and 14 strokes ahead of third-place Cameron. A total of 11 teams and 55 golfers were entered in the event.
Jessica Harbin of St. Mary’s won medalist honors after shooting a six-over par 150. Mari Suursalu of UCO was second, four strokes back at 10-over 154.
Jaryn Rainey was again the top SWOSU golfer in the event. She finished in a tie for 21st after round of 86 and 84 left her at 170, +26 over par. Teammate Chelsea Dupus was 28th with a score of 173, +29 over par, Tasha Marshall was 29th at 174. +30 over par, Jennifer Aviles was 40th with a 187, +43 over par, and Lauren Degan was 45th with a 194, +50 over par.
