Women Finish Fall Season

LAWTON, Okla. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University ended its women’s fall golf season by finishing in 10th place at the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Golf Tournament. The two-day, 36-hole tournament attracted 12 teams and 70 golfers to Lawton’s Golf and Country Club.

The Bulldogs slipped one spot from ninth to 10th after a second-ay 330 left them with a 651 total. Oklahoma City University, the defending NAIA champion, won the event with a team score of 563, 38 shots better than second-place Drury. The Stars swept the top three individual spots and had all five of their golfers finish seventh or better.

OCU’s Laura Jones finished as the medalist with a four-under, 136 after a second-round 66 put her four shots ahead of teammate Sydney Cox.

SWOSU’s Jaryn Rainey was again the Bulldogs top finisher. Rainey, who was in a fourth-place tie on Monday after a 71, stumbled to 19th with an 82 on Tuesday. Other SWOSU golfers and their scores are as follows: Whitney McCuistion in 34th place with a 160, +20 over par; Tasha Marshall in 43rd with a 167, +27 over par, Kelly Lockhart in 52nd with a 171, +31 over par and Lauren Degan in 62nd with a 180, +40 over par.
