Women Take 9th at St. Mary's

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University kept hold of its ninth-place standing with a second-round score of 355 and finished the St. Mary’s Lady Rattler Roundup with a 709. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was completed at San Antonio’s Dominion Golf Club, a 5,870 yard, par 72 course.
Tarleton State continued its impressive run capturing its sixth tournament of the year with a team score of 638, 27 shots better than second-place California State-Monterey Bay. The Texans had three of the top four golfers and all five finished 15th or better.
Jaryn Rainey was the top SWOSU finisher after rounds of 88 and 83 left her with a two-day score of 171 and in a tie for 21st place. Rainey has been SWOSU’s top finisher in five of the six tournaments.
Northeastern State’s Stephanie Byrd was the wire-to-wire winner as the medalist, finishing with a four-over-par score, 146.
A total of 12 teams and 60 golfers competed in the event. Other LSC teams and their finish in the tournament are as follows: Northeastern State in fourth with 675 and Texas A&M-Commerce in 10th with a 742.
Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Tasha Marshall and Kelly Lockhart each finished in a tie for 31st with a score of 178, Whitney McCuistion in 37th with a 182 and Lauren Degan in 53rd with a 205.
SWOSU will next play at the St. Edward’s Hilltopper Classic at the Circle C Golf Club in Austin, Texas beginning March 3.
