Women Stay 13th at St. Ed's

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Southwestern Oklahoma State University women’s golf team bettered its first-round effort by 13 strokes but still was unable to climb from 13th place after the final round of the St. Edward’s Invitational. The Bulldogs put together a 355 on Tuesday after opening with 368 to finish with a team score of 723.

The University of Texas JV team was the tournament winner with a score of 649. UTJV finished just ahead of Tarleton State’s score of 652. A total of 17 teams and 90 golfers competed in the two-day, 36-hole tournament at the Circle C Golf Course in Austin, Texas.

Jaryn Rainey was the top SWOSU finisher with a score of 167, which tied her for 14th overall. She had rounds of 83 and 84 and finished +25 over par.

Southwestern College’s Kristen Davenport won medalist honors with a 157, after rounds of 79 and 78.

Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Tasha Marshall in 62nd with a 184, Kelly Lockhart in 67th with a 187, Whitney McCuistion in 71st with a 189 and Lauren Degan was 82nd with a 196.

The Bulldogs will next be in action Monday, March 10 at the East Central University Invitational.
