Women Place 7th at A&M-C

POTTSBORO, Texas – The Southwestern Oklahoma State University women’s golf team ended up in seventh place after rain washed away the final round of the Texas A&M-Commerce Invitational at the Tanglewood Country Club in Pottsboro, Texas.

SWOSU shot a 348 on Monday and were 24 strokes behind Nebraska-Omaha who turned in a 324. A total of 13 teams and 75 golfers competed in the event. West Texas A&M was second with 336, Central Oklahoma finished fourth with 338.

SWOSU finished ahead of Lone Star Conference schools Cameron, Texas A&M-Commerce and East Central.

Jaryn Rainey was SWOSU’s top golfer in the tournament with an eight-over-par score of 80. Rainey finished in a tie for fourth, just one stroke behind a trio of golfers at 79.

Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Whitney McCuistion was 13th with an 84, Tasha Marshall was 17th with an 85, Lauren Degan was 68th with a 99 and Kelly Lockhart was 75th with a 109.

The team will next play in the Lone Star Conference championships April 21-22 at the Winstar Golf and Country Club in Thackerville, Okla.
