Women Stay in 10th Place

TAHLEQUAH, Okla. --- Southwestern Oklahoma State University shaved 14 strokes off its first round team score with a second-day 341 but did not gain ground on the field. The Bulldogs stayed where they started the day in 10th place at the Northeastern State University Women’s Golf Classic. The two-day, 36-hole tournament was completed Tuesday at Cherry Creek Golf Course in Tahlequah.

Lisa Roche was the top SWOSU finisher placing in a tie for 37th with a 36-hole total of 171, +27 over par. Central Oklahoma won the team championship with a total of 619, seven shots better than second-place West Texas A&M. The Bronchos had the individual medalist, Raelynn Farthing, who shot a 150, eight-over par. UCO also had two golfers tied for fifth with an 11-over par, 155.

A total of 13 teams and 70 golfers competed in the event.

Tarelton State was third with a team score of 626, one shot ahead of St. Edward’s who finished fourth at 327. Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Tasha Marshall and Amber Henderson shared 42nd with a score of +30 over par, 172; Katy Webster was 53rd with a score of +31 over par, 181 and Ashley Underwood finished 67th with a score of 203, +59 over par.

SWOSU will next be in action on Sept. 29 at the Dallas Baptist University Classic.
