Women Climb to 11th Place

DALLAS, Texas – Southwestern Oklahoma State University trimmed 14 shots off its first day total to climb one spot and finish eleventh at the Dallas Baptist University Women’s Golf Classic. The Bulldogs fired a second-day 334 to go along with a first-round score of 348 for a 36-hole total of 682.
SWOSU, which started the day in 12th place, moved past Oklahoma Baptist who shot a final round score of 360 and dropped to 13th place. A total of 16 teams competed in the event.
Tarleton State was the runaway winner after back-to-back rounds of 294 left them with a score of 588, 31 strokes better than second-place Central Oklahoma. Cameron University was third at 627, followed by Angelo State in fourth at 628.
Clinton’s Tasha Marshall was the top finisher for the SWOSU women posting identical 78’s to place 11th with a 36-hole score of 156, 12-over par.
Angelo State’s Raelyn Smith was the individual winner with a three-under score of 141, two strokes better than Tarelton’s Katy Ward. A total of 81 golfers competed in the event.
Other SWOSU golfers and their finish are as follows: Lisa Roche in 41st at 88-82-170; Amber Henderson in 48th with a 89-83-172, Ashley Underwood in 63rd with a 93-92-185 and Katy Webster in 72nd with a 103-91-194.
The SWOSU women will next be in action Oct. 6 at the University of Central Oklahoma Tournament in Edmond.
