SWOSU Wins Regional Crown, Finishes Fourth at SOSU Rodeo

DURANT –Southwestern Oklahoma State put the finishing touches on its Central Plains Regional championship as the men took home a fourth-place finish at the Southeastern Oklahoma State Rodeo. The Bulldogs accumulated 370 points at SOSU and added to its region-leading total of 4,377 points to finish comfortably ahead of runner-up Southeastern’s 3,870 points.
Bandy Murphy, SWOSU’s top cowboy for much of the season, was again the primary point producer for the Bulldogs. Murphy finished second in saddle bronc riding with a combined score of 150.0 on two rides. He then added a fourth-place finish in bull riding thanks to a 74-point ride in the long round. Murphy completed his participation with a fifth-place finish in bareback riding, scoring a total of 142 points on two rides.
Teammate Tony Sauter tied for fourth in calf roping with a combined time of 18.5 seconds on two attempts.
SWOSU, currently ranked as the 17th best rodeo team in the nation, will next compete at the College National Finals Rodeo set to begin June 11 at Casper, Wyo.
