Men Compete at Garden City Rodeo

March 5, 2007

GARDEN CITY, Kan. Southwestern Oklahoma State University finished its second rodeo of the 2007 spring season with 125 points. The men were one of several teams that competed at the Garden City Community College Rodeo.

Ft. Scott and Oklahoma Panhandle State University each shared team honors with 540 points. Southeastern Oklahoma State University was third with 510 points. The Bulldogs collected 125 points as a team.

Monty Goodwin was again one of the team’s top point producers. His second-place ride in the long run was good enough to win him sixth-place in the overall average.

Steve Bader also took home a sixth-place finish in the bull-riding. Bader was sixth in the long run and did not score in the short round. Still his long-run ride was good enough to place him sixth overall. Teammate Dustin England was among the top 10 participants but did not place in either the long run, short run or the average.

In the calf roping event, Matt Flemming was fourth in the long run but did not score in the short round and missed out on placing in the average.

Jessie Kulczycki and his teammate, K.W. Laurer of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, finished fifth in the short-round in team roping. The duo did not have good enough times to place in the average.

SWOSU will next compete March 9 at the Fort Scott Rodeo.
