Men Finish 6th at K-State

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Southwestern Oklahoma State University got a first-place effort in steer wrestling by Luke Jefferies which put them in a sixth place overall at the Kansas State Collegiate Rodeo.

Jefferies, a freshman from Homedale, Idaho, finished third in the steer wrestling long run and then turned in a first-place time of 4.4 seconds to win the short round and capture the overall average.

SWOSU also got points from bull rider Jesse Jackson who finished sixth in the average with a 73-point ride in the long run. Jackson is a sophomore from Walsenburg, Colo.

Also doing well was Matt Nauman who finished fifth in the long round of the calf roping with a time of 10.4 seconds. He did not record a time in the short round and finished out of the average. Nauman is a junior from Sweet, Idaho.

SWOSU will next compete Saturday, March 1 at the Garden City Community College Rodeo.
