SWOSU Women Finish Fourth at KSU

Manhatten, KS - Southwestern Oklahoma State gave up some ground but still kept hold of first place in the Central Plains Women’s Rodeo standings after a fourth-place finish at the recently completed Kansas State Collegiate Rodeo.

The Bulldogs managed 170 points to finish behind Oklahoma Panhandle State (395), Southeastern Oklahoma (240) and Colby Community College (180) in the 20-school event.

Indvidually,Sarah Ellingson was the top point producer for the Bulldogs winning barrel racing thanks to an event-best time of 12.10 in the long round. Ellingson (Kellyville, Jr.) has already won a barrel racing competition earlier this year at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

SWOSU also got points from Maddie Craig (Okarche, Fr.) who finished in a two-way tie for third in the breakaway roping competition. Teammate Audra Hays was also a top 10 finisher in the event.

Martha Beagley also had a solid effort for SWOSU finishing in theo top 10 of the goat tying competition.

The SWOSU women will next compete at the Garden City Community College Rodeo March 3-5 at Garden City, Kan.
