SWOSU Finishes Second at Southeastern Rodeo

DURANT –Southwestern Oklahoma State ended the regular season portion of its women’s rodeo schedule with a second-place finish at the Southeastern Oklahoma State event. SWOSU collected 225 points and finished just behind the host, SOSU, who won the event with 365 points.

Even with the second-place effort, SWOSU still finished as the top team in the Central Plains Region with 2,875 points. SOSU was second with 2,390 points.

SWOSU’s Martha Beagley was the top point producer for the Bulldogs winning the goat-tying event with two runs that combined for 16.3 seconds. Her time of 8.0 flat in the short round was the best in the event.

Teammate Julie Dawson finished fourth in goat tying with a combined time of 17.5 seconds on two attempts.

SWOSU also got points from Ashley Adams in the breakaway roping. Adams tied for fourth in the long round with a time of 15.6 seconds and ended up seventh in the average.

SWOSU, which is ranked eighth nationally, will next compete as a team in the College National Finals Rodeo set to begin in June in Casper, Wyo.
