Women Place 5th at Ft. Scott Rodeo

GARDEN CITY, Kan.–The Southwestern Oklahoma State University women were not at its customary position at or near the top of the leader board when the final results of the Garden City Community College Rodeo were completed. The Bulldogs managed a season-low 15 points and were relegated to the unusual role of also ran.

Still even with the small point total, SWOSU remains in contention in the Central Plains regional race. The Bulldogs are expected to remain in the top five once the new rankings come out later this week.

Southeastern Oklahoma State University won the women’s competition with 630 points followed by Fort Hays State in second place with 230 points. Oklahoma State was third with 180 points.

Brittney Edmondson was the only point producer for SWOSU finishing fifth in the average in the goat-tying event. Edmondson had finished fourth in the short round and ended up in the five slot in the average.

Teammate Michelle Peeples was one of the top competitors that returned for the goat-tying finals. Peeples split fifth and sixth in the long run and did not score in the short round.

SWOSU will next compete March 9 at the Fort Scott Rodeo.
