Women Place 4th at Fort Scott

FORT SCOTT, Kan. - Southwestern Oklahoma State University women's rodeo team took home fourth-place honors at the recently completed Fort Scott Rodeo. The Bulldogs had 102 points and finished behind event winner Southeastern Oklahoma State University who had 295 points. Oklahoma Panhandle State University was second with 283 points followed by Northeastern Oklahoma A&M with 180 points.

SWOSU remained in third place in the Central Plains Regional Standings but its margin over the fourth-place team, Southeastern, shrunk to just 12 points. SWOSU has 962 points while Southeastern has 950.

SWOSU had two cowgirls place in the goat tying competition. Amy Outhier and Brittney Edmondson each split sixth in the long run while Outhier finished second in the short run and second in the average. Edmondson was third in the short run and finished third in the average.

Outhier continues to lead the region in goat-tying. She has a more than a 200-point lead on her nearest competitor, Kelli Proffer of Southeastern.

SWOSU will next compete at the Oklahoma Panhandle State University rodeo in Guymon on April 2, 2009.
