Soccer Loses to CSU-Pueblo, 2-0

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State suffered its first loss of the women’s soccer season Sunday at Colorado State-Pueblo. The Bulldogs were 2-0 losers and watched as their season’s record dipped to 1-1 after the first two games.

The game was equally contested with CSU-P slightly out shooting the Bulldogs 11-10 on shots attempted.

The Timberwolves scored the game’s first goal at the 15:18 mark when Angela Russell turned a midfield pass from Brittany Breman into a goal scoring shot past SWOSU keeper Lindsey Crook. The T-Wolves added a second goal at the 71:00 mark when Chelsea Tronick scored off an assist by Sheena Reimherr.

Carrie Dumbauld, who scored two of SWOSU’s four goals in the season-opening win against St. Gregory’s, had four of the Bulldogs 10 shots Sunday.

SWOSU returns home Thursday, Sept. 1 to host NAIA power Oklahoma Christian University . Game time is 5 p.m. at the SWOSU Athletic Complex located north of campus.
