SWOSU Stumbles at End, Loses to OCU
September 6, 2005
Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State University watched its slim lead evaporate in the final minutes, losing 2-1 to Oklahoma City University in a women’s soccer game Tuesday in Weatherford.
The Bulldogs, now 2-2, on the season, gave up a pair of OCU goals in the game’s final minutes to allow the Stars come away with the hard-fought victory. OCU kept its record unbeaten and improved to 3-0-1 on the season.
The Bulldogs appeared headed to their third win of the season when Rachel Welch scored in the 72nd minute to give SWOSU a 1-0 lead.
The Bulldogs had allowed 15 shots from OCU, but none of them were particularly threatening to goalkeeper Lindsey Crook who finished the game with seven saves. However, the final two proved to be SWOSU’s undoing from the foot of Jennifer Crawford in the 84th minute and Ashley Mise in the game’s 88th minute.
The Bulldogs return to action Thursday, Sept. 15 when they travel to face Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
