SWOSU Battles ENMU to Scoreless Draw in Soccer
October 22, 2005

Portales, NM - Southwestern Oklahoma State and Eastern New Mexico took each other’s best shot for 110 minutes and when time expired nothing had been settled. The two women’s soccer teams battled to a scoreless, double-overtime tie Sunday in Portales, N.M. It marked the second consecutive year that the two Lone Star Conference schools ended in scoreless ties.
Even with the tie, SWOSU still has a glimmer of hope of qualifying for its first ever LSC Tournament next month. The Bulldogs, 7-8-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the league, are in a seventh-place tie with Northeastern State. The top six teams qualify for the league’s post season tournament.
Texas A&M-Commerce currently is in sixth place with a 2-2-2 mark and already have beaten SWOSU in a head-to-head matchup. SWOSU will most likely need to sweep its season-ending games against Midwestern State and Angelo State and ahead of both NSU or TAMC to secure a spot.
In the ENMU game, SWOSU outshout the Lady Zias 21-18 but couldn’t get the ball past keeper Stephanie Sanchez.
SWOSU’s Lindsey Crook again sparkled in goal, saving six shots while posting her sixth shutout of the season.
