Soccer Season Ends with Loss to MSU
October 30, 2005

Weatherford, OK - Southwestern Oklahoma State ended what had been its most successful soccer season in school history Sunday with a hard-fought, 2-1 double-overtime loss to Midwestern State. The loss left the Bulldogs with a 7-10-1 season mark and a ninth-place finish in the Lone Star Conference at 2-6-1.
The Bulldogs appeared on their way to beating MSU for the first time in eight previous meetings when senior forward Emily Rodawalt scored in the game’s 67th minute to give SWOSU a 1-0 lead.
MSU (8-8-1, 6-3) then urgently pressed its offensive attack and tied the game when Brittany Burney scored in the 84th minute. Burney played a ball that had bounced high in front of the goal and scooted it past SWOSU keeper Lindsey Crook.
MSU won the game in the second overtime when Sarah Wyles collected the ball that had ricochet off the cross bar, knocking it into the net in the game’s 106th minute.
The game was evenly played by both teams as the Indians held a slight advantage with 20 shots compared to SWOSU’s 17.
