Dumbauld Nets Three in Opener, Bulldogs Win

August 25, 2006

SHAWNEE – Southwestern Oklahoma State got three goals by midfielder Carrie Dumbauld as it opened its 2006 women’s soccer season in impressive fashion with a 3-0 victory over St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee.

Dumbauld, the team’s leading scorer in each of the last two years, showed little signs of slowing down scoring in the 44th, 65th and 74th minute. The three-goal outburst ties her own school record set last year against the same St. Gregory’s squad.

Dumbauld’s second goal was an unassisted effort while her first was aided by teammate Robin Kluck and her last by Jamie Hilterbran.

The Bulldogs blasted away at the Lady Cavs defense peppering goalie Christina Carden with 22 shots, 15 of which were on goal. Meanwhile, SWOSU goalkeeper Keli Bass remained relatively quiet only facing one shot on goal, which she easily saved.

SWOSU will next play Sunday in its home opener against Mesa State at 1 p.m.
